The V.C.Squier string company was established in 1890 in Battle Creek , Michigan by Victor Carroll . In 1965 they were purchased by Fender. They closed down in 1975 but since Fender owned the name, they became a separate subsidiary making guitars, amps and other lower priced instruments.
