Other companies have tried, but nothing sounds like a real Rickenbacker. The jangle, the shimmering highs, and quick attack are created from the use of walnut and maple, the headstock angle, truss rods, bridges and unique pickups and wiring, and of course the Rick mojo. Francis Hall became the exclusive distributor of Fender guitars in1946 but grew tired of it. Later Adolf Rickenbacker sold his company to Hall. The company stayed in the family with John Hall and later Ben running it. The big boosts in sales were due to their use by Beatles, Roger McQuinn, John Fogerty, Tom Petty , etc., and the bass sound of Chris Squire's 4001 bass in Yes recordings. They are not a Gibson, Fender, or Gretsch, but their own unique sound pallet. Enjoy the uniqueness!
