George Beaychamp and John Dopyer released their first resonators in 1927 using the name National. Rudolf Dopyera, John's brother who came from Weissenborne built wood instruments with tri=cones and then working with Adolf Rickenbacker, built metal body ones.In 1928, Dopyera split from National and formed Dobro. In 1932-34 the Dopyera brothers bought a controlling interest in National and Dobro and called it "National Dobro Corporation.
