In 1994, bass player Dan Lakin and luthier Hugh McFarland ( the lak and the land) founded Lakland Basses. In 1997 they introduced a South Korean version called the Skyland Series and in 2008 they moved production to Indonesia . In 2010 it was sold to Hanson Musical Instruments.
