Founded in 1976 in California, they first built aluminum neck guitars similar to Travis Bean designs. However, by 1981 they started using wood necks first with a Fender style headstock but then the pointed hockey stick shape and then the banana shape of today. The first trem bridges were made by Rockinger of Germany but were replaced by 1983 due to input by Eddie Van Halen. For two years , thanks to Eddie,(1985 and 1986), they outsold both Fender and Gibson. FInally it was sold to Gibson.
