Since its early start in 1908 as a bookstore Hoshino Shoten, and then when they started importing classical guitars by Salvador Ibanez in 1929, they have grown to be one of the best brands of stringed instruments and guitar related electronics. In the post war era, they were copying other brands, while improving their quality. Their factory closed in 1969 and guitars were then built by FujiGen Gakki till the mid 80's and then manufacturing was distributed between Korea, China, and Indonesia. The lawsuit period of the mid seventies forced them to come up with original designs which were well accepted by the public, both players and guitar techs. |
