The Custom Shop D-18 1937 gives players the sonic qualities of the Authentic Series paired with the everyday value of a trusty workhorse guitar. Regarded as the cornerstone of performance and sound, Martin’s highly prized 1937 models set the bar for generations of instruments that followed. This guitar features a clear vintage gloss Adirondack spruce top, genuine mahogany back and sides, scalloped bracing, hide glue and cloth strip construction, and an adjustable truss rod, capturing the look, feel, and sound of some of the finest guitars ever made.
The Custom Shop D-18 1937 is also available with light aging in either natural or ambertone finishes. Stage 1 aging lacks the heavy wear and tear of a well-worn instrument and instead features the light checking inspired by those rare guitars that were simply kept in a case and tucked away for decades. It bears the marks of time but not the heavy wear common on newly aged guitars.
