Introduced in the late 1990s, the Gibson Songwriter features Gibson’s distinctive square-shoulder modern dreadnought body design. The Songwriter Recording Artist captures the historic tonal advantages of Gibson’s legendary 1930s scalloped Advanced X-bracing, combined with a 25.5" scale length and tonewoods inspired by the 1936 Advanced Jumbo. The result is a powerful, dynamic acoustic voice that remains unmistakably Gibson.

Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, the Songwriter Recording Artist features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides for exceptional clarity, warmth, and projection. The 25.5" scale mahogany neck has a comfortable round profile and is topped with a bound ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl diamond eye inlays. The neck joins the body using a compound dovetail joint with hot hide glue, ensuring maximum stability and tonal transfer.

Premium appointments include a rosewood headstock veneer with Gibson logo and crown inlays, bone nut, gold Grover open-back tuners, and an ebony bridge with bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins, accented with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays. The thermally aged Sitka spruce top is protected by a custom tortoise pickguard and finished with a striking wide abalone rosette.

Designed for both studio and stage, the Songwriter Recording Artist features the L.R. Baggs HiFi pickup system. Dual bridge plate sensors and an onboard preamp deliver exceptional dynamics, string balance, and note definition while remaining highly feedback resistant.
