The Gibson Custom Shop Willcutt Exclusive 1954 Les Paul Standard V2 Neck Gold Top VOS Lightweight Made to Measure is a refined take on one of Gibson’s most iconic vintage designs. Built exclusively for Willcutt Guitars, this model captures the timeless magic of the ’54 Goldtop while introducing a modern, more accessible feel through its V2 Slim Taper C neck profile — a comfortable evolution of the traditional 1950s carve, designed for faster playability without sacrificing the solid, resonant feel of a true vintage Les Paul.

Crafted with a 2-piece plain maple top joined to a solid mahogany body using hide glue construction, the guitar delivers exceptional sustain and harmonic depth. The VOS nitrocellulose finish lends it a lightly aged patina reminiscent of well-preserved vintage examples. Its Indian rosewood fingerboard, also hide-glued, adds warmth and clarity to the tone, complemented by aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays and historic narrow/tall frets for authentic playability.

Electronics feature Custom Soapbar P90 pickups, producing the raw, dynamic voice that made the original Goldtops legendary — from chimey cleans to biting midrange growl. The vintage-correct wiring harness includes CTS 500K audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors for exceptional tonal response and sensitivity.

Nickel hardware, Kluson single-line tuners, and a wraparound bridge complete the vintage aesthetic, while every detail — from the amber Catalin switch tip to the gold speed knobs — has been executed with period accuracy.
