This one-off Gibson Custom Shop 1956 Les Paul Standard puts a unique spin on a classic Goldtop, pairing vintage-correct construction with two standout custom features. The translucent gold top subtly reveals the maple grain—an elegant departure from the traditional opaque finish—while the gold doghair–finished mahogany back adds texture and visual depth rarely seen on a ’56 Standard.

True to period specs, it features no weight relief, hide-glue construction, and a long tenon mahogany neck carved to a rounded ’50s Medium C profile, capped with an Indian rosewood fingerboard. A set of Custom P-90 soapbar pickups delivers the open, punchy tone that defines mid-’50s Les Pauls.

Finished in VOS nitrocellulose lacquer with authentic vintage hardware, this is a genuine one-of-one Custom Shop piece—classic at heart, but unmistakably special.
